KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Parents and students are concerned about safety at Northeast High School, saying the violence is out of control. On Wednesday, a student managed to videotape two girls fighting. He said it's just a glimpse of the problems at this Kansas City, Missouri high school. Students say scenes like the one in the video are common at Northeast High School. Abdi Abdi said his 17-year-old sister was part of the fight. "The girl started it and she made her take off her jacket. Then, she swinged at my sister. Then, my sister started hitting her," said Abdi. Abdi said it all started because of a joke. "And my sister laughed at her and she didn't like it so she told her older sister. Her older sister came and started the fight so my sister pulled her hair then," said Abdi. KCMO Police arrived after school Thursday to help calm the situation. Student Abou Diob says security is present at the school, "but by the time security comes somebody is already knocked out or something and everybody on the fight run and stuff." Students aren't the only ones who are concerned. Family members are saying enough is enough. "The kids out here are fighting and shooting at each other. It's ridiculous. And it's sad. You've got to have police come to the school to supervise the kids," said Brenda Davis, parent. The principal of Northeast High School declined to look at the video of the fight, but did say they're pulling the surveillance video to watch the incident themselves. The students we talked to did confirm both girls involved in the fight have been suspended. Heather Claybrook, FOX 4 News
